Clippers’ 26-1 run stuns Grizzlies in Game 1
The Los Angeles Clippers made a 26-1 run in the 4th quarter and stunned the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of the Western Conference playoffs Sunday night.
Trailing by 24 points with under 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter, the Clippers suddenly played like a team on fire, sparking a 26-1 run to cap the game with an amazing stunner as the Grizzlies lost by just one point 99-98. The Grizzlies led by as much as 27 points in the game.
The Grizzlies just collapsed in the 4th quarter, committing five turnovers and failing to take advantage of the seven turnovers that the Clippers also committed. Rudy Gay led with 19 points for Memphis but missed the potential game winning shot with 0.9 seconds left. Mike Conley and O.J. Mayo scored 17 apiece while Marc Gasol contributed 14 for the Grizzlies.
Nick Young played well off the bench, leading the Clippers with 19 points including three 3-pointers during their run in the 4th quarter. J.R. Smith and Knicks beat Clippers for a possible 7th seed
The New York Knicks beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night for a possible step higher to the No. 7 seed going to the playoffs, that is, if the Knicks want it.
The Knicks nearly squandered an 18-point 4th quarter lead with Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire both on the bench before holding on and beating the Clippers 99-93 at Madison Square Garden.
J.R. Smith put in 21 points while Anthony added 17 to put the Knicks within one win away from finishing the regular season with the No. 7 seed on the way to a first round match up against the Miami Heat. Although analysts are saying that a match up against the top seed Chicago Bulls might give the Knicks a better chance of moving past the first round.
The Clippers, who badly needed to win this game for a home-court advantage, missed the services of Chris Paul. Blake Griffin scored 29 points while Randy Foye added 28 for the Clippers.
Clippers overcome Thunder to stay ahead
Chris Paul’s 31 points led the Los Angeles Clippers on a 100-98 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, including the game-winning layup with 8.8 seconds left in the game. The Wednesday night win was important to the Clippers as it kept them on track for a home-court advantage in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. With the win, the Clippers hold on to their fourth place standing in the Western Conference.
Kevin Durant led the Oklahoma City Thunder with 22 points but missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer over Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. The Thunder remain in first place in the Western Conference standings, one game ahead of the San Antonio Spurs.
With the playoffs so near, all the teams have just one thing on their minds and that is to close out all their games with wins. Isn’t it exciting to see all the teams just give their all to be able to reach the playoffs? Catch the excitement live as we head into the playoffs.
Clippers Acquire Nick Young At The Trade Deadline
The 2012 NBA trade deadline has come and gone and who would have thought that the Los Angeles Clippers could have gotten even better. In a three way trade deal with the Washington Wizards and the Denver Nuggets, the Clippers acquired shooting guard Nick Young.
This can be seen as a good move because Nick Young can score and fills a void left by Chauncey Billups injury. Averaging about 16 points a game this season, the move adds another scoring option to the team. It spreads the ball out to another player and gives point guard Chris Paul some additional resources to work with.
Who would have thought the Los Angeles Clippers would ever be in the playoff hunt, but they are very much this 2012 season. The new talents in Chris Paul and Nick Young along with the young core of Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan will make things very interesting.

Who Are The Favorites to Reach the Finals?
Who will emerge out of the Western Conference to reach the NBA Finals? The field is really up for grabs, unlike the Eastern Conference. In the Western Conference you have young teams such as the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Clippers. But you also have old teams that have been there before such as the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs.
There are two favorites to make it to the NBA finals in the Eastern Conference. The consensus is that these two teams are the Miami Heat and the Chicago Bulls. All other teams may look good on paper, but simply don’t have the experience or the talent to go deep into the playoffs.
My bet is that the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat will meet each other in the NBA Finals. The Thunder are young and quick. They’re balanced and they play good defense. The Heat are simply on a tear right now. They’re blowing past every team. Miami has unbelievable talent and has the experience from the previous year of making it to the finals.
The season is a little past the halfway mark. Find some of the best tickets here. Tickets are sold at discounted prices. Hurry before they sell out.
The LA Clippers did not start out in Los Angeles. They are originally from Buffalo, having been founded there and played eight seasons there. The team then moved to San Diego in 1978 before relocating to L.A. in 1984. The Clippers name came from their time spent in San Diego. They were named after the many sailing vessels which pass through the city's ports. The name carried over when the team moved to its current location in Los Angeles.
The Clippers historically have not been very successful. In their entire team history, they've only had six winning seasons. Things have been difficult for them. Injuries and players leaving have been a part of the reason. However, the past several years have seen the team draft well with the likes of Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon. It should be exciting to watch these two dynamic players light up games for many years to come.
